Ifa divination involves the use of sacred palm nuts, called Ikin, and a divination chain called Opele. The divination utilizes the Odu Ifa, a collection of 256 sacred texts or verses that guide practitioners in understanding their destinies and resolving life’s challenges.

Ikin

Ikins are special spiritual palm nuts or sacred nuts used in the act of divining or in the act of knowing the mind of Olodumare concerning all issues at all levels of existence.

Opele

While ikin is in the unit form, Opele is an oracular chain made of seeds attached together either by beads, chain links or rope.
